Diwali Festival of Light – one week to go!
Diwali approaches in just over one week – I need bodies – unicyclists and jugglers (fire subject to insurance, otherwise battery powered). Please confirm your excitement and involvement by return!
Details as follows:
Date: Tuesday Nov 12th
Timing: Assemble 5.30 latest / parade & music & dance 6.00 / food 6.40
Location: University quad near Millennium Bridge on south side of River Tees
What’s occurring / who’s involved?: Stockton Town Choir, Hindu dancers, fireworks, beacons, dragon boat with dhol drummers, fire, UV cannons, bhangra music, food.
What do we need to do?: Our role is simple – to lead the dignitaries to the performance area, involving a short and simple procession on smooth paths with one slight slope at the end. After this there might be an opportunity for us to zig zag around the quad in a bit of a freestyle couple of minutes, but nothing too choreographed.
Our illuminations: Due to the technical difficulties of creating light suits as envisaged, we shall revert to last year’s style of lighting up ourselves and our unicycles with head torches, glow sticks, battery powered strings lights and all such things electrical. These shall be supplied FOC.
We have been requested to provide some fire juggling too, however no-one seems to have any fire performance insurance current at the moment. I am working on this …
So, please confirm that you would like to be involved ASAP, first-come-first-served, we shall probably limit it to 20 folk to enable the modest budget to stretch!
